Q. What will happen in our first session?
A. The first session is a chance to meet each other and see if you feel we could work together. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist and feel safe and secure within your therapeutic journey. We can discuss what you would like to bring to future sessions and ask any questions or query any concerns you may have.
Q. Is everything we talk about within therapy confidential?
A. Yes within the therapeutic room all that is said shall remain confidential. The only exceptions to this include.
- If you disclose that you are planning on causing serious harm to yourself or another person
- If it is believed a child or protected adult is at risk of harm or abuse
- If you disclose information about a proposed act of terrorism or other illegal act
During any of these circumstances, I shall attempt to discuss this with you before taking it outside the therapeutic room.
Also, as part of the requirements of my professional association (BACP), I have clinical supervision, where my caseloads are discussed. But during these, no identifying information will be shared; these sessions are only to assist my continuing learning and development.
Q. How often will we meet?
A. Sessions shall be weekly, at a mutually available time. It is important that sessions are kept to regular times each week. This gives clarity and consistency within your therapeutic process.
Q. What happens if I have to cancel a session?
A. Life can sometimes throw obstacles in our way, and some cancellations will be necessary, but where possible, it is important to cancel with as much notice as possible. If a client cancels less than 24 hours before their appointment, a £25 cancellation fee would be expected to cover room charges etc. for example if your appointment is Friday at 4 pm, you will need to cancel the previous day before 4 pm to not get charged
Q. What happens if I’m late for a session?
A. Unforeseen circumstances can arise where lateness cannot be helped. Still, it is advisable to plan ahead where necessary as I will always need to close the session at the prearranged time, as there may be other clients booked in after your session.
Q. How many sessions will I get?
A. This depends on each individual; you will be offered an initial 6 sessions, and then we can review where you feel you are. If you wish to have more, we can review it every 6 weeks.
Q. How will I pay for sessions?
A. Payments can be made via Bank Transfer, PayPal or Cash at the end of each session. Another session cannot be firmly booked until the previous session is paid for.
Q. How long is a session?
A. Each session lasts 50 minutes
